Sarah founded SL Therapy on the fundamental principle that every child should be given the opportunities to reach their communication potential. As well as supporting children and their families, we liaise with other relevant professionals to ensure that best practice for a child’s therapeutic experience is consistently maintained.

Sarah and the team work with children aged 1 month to 18 years old. They are experienced in providing assessment and treatment for a wide range of speech, language and communication difficulties. These include Autism, Down’s Syndrome, Global Developmental Delay, Selective Mutism, Hearing Impairment, Language Delay and Disorder, Speech Delay Disorder and many more. Therapy is provided in homes, school/college/nursery settings using a range of therapeutic approaches that best suit the child’s needs.

Our expertise is regularly sought for SEN Tribunals, where we are called on as an Expert Witness - providing reports and attending court. We also support Educational Healthcare Plan assessments and reviews – providing assessments and reports for:

1. Cases who are applying for an EHC Plan

2. Cases who require a review of their EHC Plan

The SEN tribunal work and Educational Healthcare Plan Assessment reviews and court cases we have supported have had a 100% success rate for the families involved. In many cases our assessments and reports have averted the need to go to court and brought a swifter and easier resolution for those families.


With over 50 year combined experience in the field of Autism, we work as a multi-disciplinary team to deliver gold-standard Autism Assessments, using the ADOS (Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule and 3Di (Developmental Diagnostic Dimensional Interview). The ADOS and 3Di are standardised diagnostic tests for Autistic Spectrum Disorder (ASD) for 3-60 years old.

Sharon Bourla

Consultant advising parents and carers to get the best possible support for their child with SEND.

Sharon has over 25 years of experience in helping parents and carers of children with Special Educational Needs & Disabilities to successfully navigate the complex SEND system and get their child the support they need. This has included supporting families at school meetings, meetings with Local Authorities representative, and any professional meetings with other agencies.

Sharon has worked in the charity and public sectors. Sharon has extensive knowledge of the SEND tribunal processes and has supported many parents/carers through this process, with a first-class record of success.

As a parent herself of a child with learning disabilities, primarily Speech and Language difficulties, Sharon understands first-hand how difficult it can be navigating the SEND processes, and will doggedly and passionately help parents and carers to get their child the best resources and support possible from local authorities and other agencies.

Qualifications:

Sharon has completed all levels of the IPSEA (Independent Provider of Special Education Advice) legal training. Sharon aims to keep up to date with all changes in SEND law and procedures.
